Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
ITS provides centralized Information Technology services to the campus and the Technology Assistance Center (TAC) and TAC Repairs is the first line of support. This unit provides excellent customer service while solving technical issues so that faculty, staff and students can be successful in using technology for their educational mission. These units assists with the support of hardware and software solutions and repairs for the campus.
This position is required to provide tier I and limited tier II support via phones/email and at our walk-up center. Provides hardware and software support for devices such as computers, cell phones and 3D printers. Provides recommendations for hardware and software requirements and upgrades. Conducts research on latest tools and technical solutions.
Additionally this position is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all services provided and is required to work with and assist with training the student workforce.
N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the positions’ role. Computer coursework may be substituted year for year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment to help solve technical issues.
Ability to work with vendors and other outside resources to help create technology solutions.
Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service.
Ability to work with, train and mentor student assistants.
Knowledge and ability to work on various operating systems, hardware, and software including Microsoft and Adobe Products.
Ability to learn new technologies.
Ability to learn to repair a wide variety of technology devices including laptops, desktops and cell phones.
Ability to become Apple and Dell hardware certified and Adobe software certified.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Information Systems or other computer related field and at least 6 months experience in Information Technology related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience working with UNCW proprietary software, ticketing and point of sale (POS) systems, is a plus.
Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Certifications required after training is completed by selected applicant.
Recruitment Range: $42,000 - $42,947
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 63
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: M - F
Work Hours: 9-6, flexibility required
