Job Description
INTERNAL POSTING

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Part-Time Urban Agriculture Program Development and Community Outreach Specialist.

This summer position begins on June 1, 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in program design, facilities development, and outreach to the community. As a part of this urban agriculture initiative, UNT Dallas has partnered with El Centro College, Dallas, TX, to develop a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree that includes undergraduate agricultural training and advances students' STEM skills. This effort is being supported at UNTD by a $1.3 million grant from the Department of Education.

The successful candidate will assist in purchase of materials and equipment (tractor, implements, plants, building materials, etc.) and take a leadership role in preparing the beds for student use and educational activity in the Fall of 2018. This new staff member will be responsible for developing presentations, demonstrations, and classroom activities for the emerging Urban Agriculture program. They will also build collaborative relationships with community gardeners and other urban agriculture entities and spearhead efforts to establish internships and other urban agriculture workplace opportunities for undergraduate students.

UNT Dallas offers faculty and staff the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a 21st century, learner-focused, urban comprehensive university.
