Conductor, Symphonic Band

Job description

The Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College invites applications for a one-year faculty position in music to begin August 15, 2018.  Candidates should have a record of excellence as a conductor, and be committed to teaching, with the clearly demonstrated ability to lead the band program, involving students who are music majors, as well as many who are pursuing degrees outside music.  The teaching load will include conducting the Symphonic Band and may also include assignments in other areas, possibly including conducting, instrumental methods, music education, depending on qualifications and experience.  Candidates should have a minimum of an M.M. in Music; preference will be given to those with an earned doctorate, or progress towards the same.  Other desired qualifications include a commitment to the liberal arts, demonstrated discipleship and spiritual maturity; strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a highly collegial fashion, and recruitment abilities and experience.
