Dean of Students

The University of Southern Indiana (USI) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Students. Founded in 1965, the University of Southern Indiana enrolls more than 11,000 dual credit, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students in more than 100 areas of study. A public higher education institution, located on a beautiful 1,400-acre campus in Evansville, Indiana, USI offers programs through the College of Liberal Arts, Romain College of Business, College of Nursing and Health Professions and the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. USI is a Carnegie Foundation Community Engaged University and offers continuing education and special programs to more than 16,000 participants annually through Outreach and Engagement. USI is online at www.usi.edu.



Reporting directly to the Associate Provost for Student Affairs and serving as a member of the Student Affairs Management Team and Provost’s Council, the Dean of Students enhances the University mission by engaging students in programs and services that help develop responsible, contributing members of a global society. The Dean of Students provides leadership and supervision to the Dean of Students Office, Counseling Center, and University Health Center. The Dean of Students chairs the CARE Team, serves as Title IX Deputy Director, chairs Eagle Experience Team (an Academic Student Affairs initiative), acts as an advocate for students in the University community, and serves as primary advisor to the Student Government Association. The Dean of Students collaborates broadly across the University with faculty and community partners on all matters affecting the student experience.



The successful candidate will bring strategic and innovative thinking to the Dean of Students role at USI. S/he will be a collaborative, energetic leader with a minimum of five years of leadership and managerial experience. A demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral intervention teams, threat assessment and case management for students in distress is essential. The University seeks individuals who have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a dedicated student focus, and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice. S/he will have a current understanding of student life and academic initiatives, experience cultivating community, a working knowledge of state and federal policy issues (including but not limited to Title IX compliance requirements), risk management, experience in policy and student conduct protocols, and a track record of educating others with regard to these areas. Master’s degree required, doctorate preferred.
