This position not only requires the performance of secretarial duties but also a good attitude towards the work and the diversity of people that are associated with or contact this office on a daily basis. As the first point of contact at the Department this position requires the skills to interact with students, faculty and visitors of diverse background, the ability to work under time pressure, and work independently.
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Twelve (12) months of clerical/secretarial work experience comparable to that performed at the next lower level of this series.
3. Any one or combination of the following types of preparation:
(a) Twenty-four (24) months of work experience performing clerical/secretarial work, including use of computer systems; OR
(b) Twenty-four (24) semester hours college or university course work in Office Occupations, Business Administration or Business Education (verify with transcript); OR
(c) Twelve (12) months of vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures comparable to that gained in "b" above (verify with transcript); OR
(d) Sixty (60) semester hours of college or university course work in any curriculum verify with transcript).
4. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
