This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Business Operations, the Research and Assessment Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the mission of the Office of Housing Administration through the development of identifying, employing and analyzing various data sources to ensure leadership is able to back data-based decisions in the operation of the department. This will include, but not limited to, accessing primary, secondary, and tertiary data sources such as survey design, campus data bases, academic research, state and national usage analytics, etc.
The incumbent will provide technical and analytical support services to OHA as it relates to student housing research. This will include the coordination and implementation of a year-round assessment calendar, tracking of ongoing assessment tools, and day-to-day management of assessment within the housing enterprise.
Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining all data within the software systems for monthly and yearly analysis. The Research and Assessment Coordinator will provide several presentations annually to a variety of departmental and campus partners.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,907 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,721 - $6,347 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Two years of progressively responsible experience in technical research or statistical work in the collection. compilation, and analysis of data. Graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration or engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Education Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledges and abilities delineated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Advanced proficiency with statistical software such as R, SPSS, SAS.
- Experience with database tools such as SQL or Access and reporting/visualization software such as Tableau.
- Strong technical and analytical skills are essential.
- Undergraduate degree in math, statistics or related field.
- Data mining, predictive modeling and analytics experience.
- Knowledge of visualization software and/or reporting-dashboard technology.
- Experience with educational data, student information data specifically.
