Instructor/APP - Psychiatric

The Department of Neurology has an immediate opening for a full time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant. This position will provide acute and chronic outpatient psychiatric care of Neurologic patients.

Job Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide much needed psychotherapy for all patients with chronic, degenerative, neurologic disorders.
  • Screen, evaluate, diagnose, manage medications, and provide counseling and therapy.
  • Provide onsite emergency intervention if suicidal ideation is reported during a visit.
  • Educate nursing staff, physician assistants, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents.
  • Periodic educational presentation of lectures to patients and others.
  • The successful applicant may also become involved in subspecialty care in Neurology for divisions such as seizure disorders, movement disorders, stroke, MS and neuroimmunology, etc.
  • Ongoing CME is required.


Required Qualifications:
  • NP or PA degree
  • License to practice in Colorado.
  • Applicant must be willing to care for patients with a chronic, sometimes severe illness.

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience with neurological patients and/or experience in management of chronic diseases in a subspecialty environment. Experience in primary care medicine is desirable.
