Essential Job Function - Serves as the Director of the PTA Program. Manages the overall operation of the PTA Program including course scheduling, securing equipment and supplies, developing policies and procedures, and record keeping. Recruits students, instructors, and other personnel for the program. Establishes and implements program/course policies. Prepares budget annually for all program areas. Monitors curriculum and suggests changes as necessary. Maintains liaison with key personnel at all clinical affiliates. Develops courses in partnership with instructors and strategic partners. Three-hour release time as PTA Program director; teach classes for remainder of FTE. Continued professional development. Oversees marketing aspect of course/program. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - The program director is a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who demonstrates an understanding of education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in physical therapist assistant education.  Qualifications include all of the following; a minimum of a Master’s degree; a current license/certification to practice as a PT or PTA in the United States; a minimum of five years, full-time, post licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience; didactic and/or clinical teaching experience; experience in administration/management; experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of nine credits of coursework in educational foundations (candidates who do not possess the required nine credit hours of coursework will be required to complete the American Physical Therapy Association Education Leadership Institute program to obtain the nine credit hours of coursework).
