Position Summary: The licensed therapist provides individual and group therapy and assessment; supervision and training of medical providers and practicum students; program development and evaluation; quality improvement initiatives; and contributes to scholarship. The therapist plays an important role in health education and behavior change for patients through the UNC Tobacco Treatment Program at the NC Cancer Hospital. The therapist is administratively responsible through the Director of the UNC Tobacco Treatment Program at UNC Family Medicine. They are a professional licensed or license eligible to practice social work or equivalent degree in the State of North Carolina.

Education Requirements: Relevant professional and educational credentials and licensure in clinical field of social work or mental health practice as deemed appropriate by the Department Head.

Qualification and Experience: Board eligibility for licensure by the North Carolina Board of Social Work or equivalent licensure board. Full licensure such as LCSW is preferred. Current knowledge of field of practice and its standards; commitment to the practice of quality mental health services including a commitment to human value in that practice; ability to work with other professional staff and support staff to produce integrated professional services; delivery of evidence-based interventions; understanding of issues of diversity with demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in promoting respect and appreciation for diversity and pluralism. Preference for Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists and/or those with experience working with patients with cancer or other chronic diseases.
