Instructor – Computer Information Systems Full-Time, Tenure Track
The Full-Time Computer Information Systems Instructor will teach operating system, computer networking, computer servicing and cyber security courses to a diverse student population; work with the Morton College Data Center and student workers to maintain the networking computer labs; and stay abreast of ongoing developments, trends, and issues in computing as well as instruction in the community college environment. The instructor will participate on faculty committees and perform other duties related to teaching at a community college. The responsibilities and duties of the Full-Time Computer Information Systems Instructor may change as the needs of the college arise.
• To instruct students in the knowledge, skills and abilities pertaining to the assigned courses. • To consider the needs of the students, and assist them by seeking help from other college services. • To distribute to all students a course syllabus that covers the class requirements, grading procedure, attendance requirements, and student learning outcomes. • To inform students of educational and occupational opportunities. • To submit mid-term and final grade reports, deficiency notices, attendance records, and any other reports pertaining to the assigned courses. • To stay abreast on ongoing developments, trends, and issues in computer information systems and computer science instruction at the community college level. • Work with the Morton College Data Center and student workers to maintain the computer networking/security lab classrooms. • To work with district high school representatives on course articulation and student recruitment. • To work with representatives from four-year institutions of higher learning to articulate our program. • To serve on the CIS advisory committee. • To maintain and develop CIS curriculum. • To actively participate in assessment activities. • To serve on College-wide committees. • To perform other duties as outlined in the Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. • To perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Career and Technical Education.
