This position will serve as an official representative of Towson University at college fairs, high school visits, and other recruitment activities within an assigned territory to be determined at a later date. As a member of the Recruitment Team, the selected individual will aid in the successful strategic planning and recruitment of qualified students from inside and outside the state of Maryland.
The Admissions Counselor will encourage, promote, and maintain favorable relationships with school counselors and TU alumni. Conduct out-of-state and in-state high school visits, college fairs, and specific events related to undergraduate student recruitment and enrollment. Travel extensively to high schools and evening recruitment events, as well as evening work and periodic weekend programs. Review freshmen and transfer student applications for admission to Towson University. Assist with responding to questions from prospective undergraduates via phone, email, and in-person meetings. Actively participate in open houses and other off-campus events. Conduct information sessions to students and families visiting the Towson campus as well as at off-campus sites. Meet recruitment goals for enrollment and assist with various marketing activities. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required. Must be conferred by June 1, 2018. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to present to small and large groups of people in various types of venues; candidate must pay attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills; be a team player with a strong work ethic, interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication and someone who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment; familiarity and use of technology is critical to the success of this position and the overall operation; must have the ability to travel independently and on short notice.
Prior experience within a college admissions office, as an orientation leader or as a tour guide are helpful, but not required.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits
