Degree and Area of Specialization:
M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Toxicology or related discipline required
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
At least one year of experience in chemical analyses and analytical instrumentation (especially HPLC) required. Strong writing and statistical skills beneficial. Must have exceptional organizational, supervisory, and communication/interpersonal skills, as necessary for managing a diverse and productive research group. Must be able to work independently and as part of a research team.
License or certificate:
The Assistant Researcher will act as a laboratory and field project manager for multiple federally funded projects involving natural products chemistry. He/she will have the opportunity to design and conduct experiments, and write up results for publication in peer-reviewed journals. He/she will oversee chemical methods development, maintenance and upkeep of analytical instrumentation, execution of chemical analyses, and management of field and greenhouse plant studies. The Assistant Researcher will hire, train and supervise undergraduate assistants, and train all lab personnel (undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs) in execution of chemical analyses.
This position is being announced simultaneously with PVL 94321 under the Research Specialist title series; please note only one vacancy exists. Having two position vacancy listings allows the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences to consider candidates with a wide range of qualifications for this position.
