The applicant will be expected to spend extended periods onsite in Greifswald in support of experimental activities. W7-X is a state-of-the-art superconducting fusion confinement device intended to operate under near steady-state condition with pulse lengths up to 30 minutes in fusion relevant conditions-multi-kilovolt temperatures with plasma densities in the range of several times 10 20 m -3 .

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the installation and use of the powder dropper and help develop it as a tool for plasma edge studies.
  • Participate in experiments on W7-X once the technology is deployed.
  • Take an active role in analyzing plasma material interactions on W7-X and participate in the ongoing US collaboration in this area.
