RESEARCH TECHNICIAN I
Participate in investigations on stem cell populations in the lung and signaling pathways controlling pulmonary fibrosis by assisting with the following duties:
- Processing and dissociation of human lung samples with subsequent in vitro culture and preparation of samples for proteomic and sequencing analyses; histologic analysis of human lung with immunofluorescence imaging.
- In vitro culture of mouse lung epithelial cells in a 3D system with potential for large-scale small molecule screens; histological analysis of mouse lungs.
- Limited work participating in animal colony maintenance and breeding strategies of genetically modified mice including ear punch, tail cut, and genotyping by PCR.
Theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of Biology, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry attained through a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience.
Experience with biochemical and molecular biological laboratory procedures such as DNA cloning, gel electrophoresis, PCR, RNA purification, reverse transcription, real time quantitative PCR, western blotting, histological analysis including paraffin and frozen block making, sectioning, and staining.
Willingness to carry out studies with mice.
Experience performing animal cell culture techniques including demonstrated ability to work with sterile equipment and supplies.
