Position Summary: This position will be responsible for testing prophylactic and therapeutic compounds in mouse models that recapitulate human disease phenotypes for highly pathogenic human respiratory coronaviruses. Specifically, this position will be responsible for evaluating novel drugs to prevent and or treat highly pathogenic human coronavirus infection. In addition, this position will be responsible for identifying possible candidate vaccination strategies to prevent human coronavirus infection in na?ve populations. This position requires an applicant with experience developing vaccination strategies, drug treatment regimens and working with mouse models of human disease specifically focusing on highly pathogenic human coronaviruses. The ideal candidate will have experience working with rodent animal models under biosafety 3 containment. Successful candidates should have a working knowledge and/or training in the fields of virology, infectious clone manipulation and virus rescue, immunology, molecular biology and RNA biology as well as being capable of managing large multi-year studies requiring significant data analysis and working as part of a team.
