The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Adolescent Medicine has an opening for a 1.0 FTE faculty position at the rank of Instructor - Advanced Practice Provider. This position includes direct patient care of adolescents and will include some limited teaching of learners in an outpatient environment. Applicants must have a strong general adolescent background with experience providing clinical care to teens and young adults. Medical care for the adolescents will include general examinations, reproductive health care, behavioral health screenings, and counseling when necessary. This position calls for 100% clinical FTE, which consists of 4-4.5 days in clinic. The clinic is located at Children's Hospital Colorado's Village Pavilion, on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
Examples of Work Performed:
The candidate will be expected to provide independent direct clinical services for patients seen in the Adolescent Medicine Clinic. Typical visits are primary care for adolescents and young adults as well as specialty care in reproductive health. Specific duties include detailed patient history, assessment and treatment, relevant screenings and counseling for intimate partner violence, depression and substance abuse as well as patient education and some care coordination.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates may be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

- Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant certification
- 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
Condition of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background and sex offender registry check
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Providing health services to adolescents can be complex because of issues of confidentiality, compliance and follow-up. Experience with and relating to this age group is critical.
- Understanding of the complexity of caring for adolescent patients;
- Ability and/or willingness to teach and supervise trainees;
- Familiar with practicing delivery of confidential services surrounding sensitive topics such as mental health, substance use and abuse, sexual health, sexually transmitted diseases, dating violence, and other related topics.
- 3 years of experience working with adolescents and young adults;
- Experience working with underserved and vulnerable populations;
- Spanish speaking preferred but not required.
