Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
Ensures all general ledger activity is processed timely and accurately including cash management activities, journal entries, wire transfers, chart of accounts maintenance, petty cash review, bank reconciliations, and monthly and annual closing activities. Assists with Finance Training classes and maintenance of the departmental website.
N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Thorough knowledge of general accepted accounting theories and principles
Knowledge and understanding of business, financial and general administrative processes in a business setting
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate at all organizational levels
Ability to work independently with written or verbal instructions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Requires technical knowledge to understand and operate systems and subsystems and various in house and proprietary software applications and Microsoft Office
Apply thorough knowledge of government accounting methods, procedures and accounting practices
Possess strong knowledge of the principles of a specialized accounting system
Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Four year degree in Accounting or Business Administration
Knowledge of general accounting procedures in an educational environment
Ability to perform financial analyses as well as interpretation of financial data and reports
Thorough knowledge of application of governmental accounting and business operations
Recruitment Range: $41,500 - $45,356
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 67
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM
