The Title IX Coordinator serves as the institution's key resource in the oversight of compliance efforts consistent with Robert Morris University's Policy on Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus Save). The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for assisting and educating the campus community regarding its obligations under Title IX, and serves as the primary internal resource for Title IX complaints.

Case Management: A. Conducts or oversees the intake, investigation, processing, issuing of findings of fact, and timely resolution of all Title IX complaints made known to responsible employees and/or reported or filed by students, faculty, staff, third parties, or members of the community. B. Works collaboratively with the Office of General Counsel, Vice President of Student Life, Public Safety, Human Resources, and other divisions and departments, as needed, regarding complaint referrals, investigations, resolutions, and reporting. C. Recruits, trains and provides leadership to faculty and staff who serve as institutional advocates, investigators and complaint assessment panel members as necessary and/or appropriate.

  • Data Management: A. Organizes and maintains Title IX case files, disposition reports and other records related to Title IX cases in a confidential and responsible manner using electronic records management software. B. Oversees, monitors and updates a case management database of Title IX incidents (which organizes information based on OCR criteria) in an effort to ensure an effective and efficient response to both formal and informal reporting requirements. C. Works closely with Public Safety to ensure compliance with Clery Act reporting and other associated Title IX compliance and administrative reporting requirements.
  • Develops, coordinates, delivers, and tracks University-wide training on the University's Title IX Policy: A. Oversees and analyzes campus education/training requirements and needs based on data pertaining to Title IX matters revealed through data collection, climate assessment, and pattern monitoring. B. Provides ongoing training, consultation and technical assistance on Title IX matters for all employees including how to identify and report Title IX violations. C. Work with appropriate educational modalities for effectively catalyzing meaningful behavioral changes.
  • Coordinates campus-wide strategic efforts aimed at the prevention of sexual violence: A. Chair the RMU Title IX Readiness and Response Committee that works with the goal of collaborating with other RMU stakeholders. B. Represent RMU at other external events to showcase RMU's focus on respect and safety. C. Ensure that campus activities like exhibitions/films/events are organized with Title IX outcomes in mind.
  • Remains relevant and current with Title IX related developments and changes: A. Keeps abreast with current federal and state laws, regulations, and policies related to discriminatory practices based on sex or gender discrimination. B. Proactively look for funding and research opportunities. C. Help educate RMU's senior leadership on current trends on Title IX.
  • Title IX office management: A. Hire, evaluate and direct the activities of all other employees in the Title IX office, including clerical and student staff.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    A Master's degree in a related area from an accredited institution is required.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in a combination of at least two of the three following areas:
    • A. Administering and coordinating a comprehensive program addressing Title IX or other higher education-related compliance;
    • B. Investigating, adjudicating, and/or resolving allegations of sex discrimination and/or employment discrimination, sexual violence, or student misconduct;
    • C. Designing, facilitating, providing and evaluating age and audience appropriate training on the prevention of sex discrimination, employment discrimination and/or sexual violence.
  • Experience in a higher education, social services casework, judicial, law enforcement, or regulatory compliance setting.
  • Experience working in a collective bargaining situation in a university setting.
  • Previous teaching or training experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and guidelines and the ability to show sensitivity and commitment in conducting non-biased, neutral, fact-finding investigations relating to Title IX.
  • Previous experience working in a diverse workforce with faculty, staff and students.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy; the ability to exercise sound judgment, and to act calmly and objectively in the face of sensitive situations.
  • ATIXA certified or a comparable Title IX training program certification.
