Posting Details Posting Number: 0600827   Position Category: Athletics Professional   Job Title: Head Men's Basketball Coach   Position Code: 00412X   Position Type: Staff   Department: Athletics   Nature of Work: Reporting to the Director of Athletics or designee, the Head Men's Basketball Coach, is responsible for the management of all operational activities of a Division II sports program.   Training and Experience: *Bachelor's degree required. 
*Master's degree preferred. 
*Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) rules and regulations. 
*Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). 
*Ability to effectively supervise personnel. 
*Ability to make frequent trips to locations outside of the University area. 
*Ability to write, edit and/or develop correspondence. 
*Excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to initiate, analyze, monitor and evaluate and advance strategic plans that support student-athletes and the mission of ASU and the Department of Intercollegiate. 
*Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships.   Testing Requirements: Must be able to pass NCAA Coaches Exam   Illustrative Examples of Work: Duties and Responsibilities 
-Executes all responsibilities as a Head Coach in a manner that reflects an ongoing commitment to the excellence, integrity and success of the program, Department of Athletics and Albany State University. 
-Prepares and organizes daily practice sessions, game preparation for championship and non-championship segments. 
-Recommends and prepares all schedules for home tournaments and non-conference games to the Director of Athletics or direct report. 
-Organizes and administrators the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia and Albany State University policies and procedures 
-Responsible for the proper supervision and evaluation of coaching staff. 
-Organizes and directs the coaching staff to carry out the goals and objectives of the program. 
-Responsible for the management of the program's budget and ensuring it balances each fiscal year. 
-Responsible for the coordination and execution of arranging team and recruitment travel in conjunction with the administration adhering to compliance of all internal and external rules and regulations. 
-Responsible for the coordination and execution of ordering and inventory for program equipment and supplies in conjunction with the administration while adhering to compliance of all internal and external rules and regulations. 
-Recommends personnel, financial and facilities requirements for the program to the Director of Athletics or designee. 
-Engages in regular consultation with athletic training and other department sports medicine personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes. 
-Demonstrates concern for the overall welfare of the students at all times. 
-Recommends scholarship awards for student-athletes to the Director of Athletics or direct report. 
-Responsible for working in conjunction with athletics administration for tracking the admissions and eligibility process involving recruited student-athletes. 
-Responsible for working collaboratively with the Compliance Officer in this regard. 
-Responsible for monitoring and supporting student-athletes academic progress in consultation and coordination with department and institution academic support staff. 
-Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia and Albany State University. 
-Responsible for assisting and supporting the Department of Athletics in administration and operations as deemed necessary by the Director of Athletics 
-Assist with facilities or game management as deemed appropriate by the Director of Athletics or designee. 
-Prepares and participates in camps and clinics as needed. 
-Actively participates and assists in promotional, marketing, public relations and fundraising activities for the program and the department. 
-Actively coordinates and executes community engagement activities for the program and participate in departmental and institutional community engagement. 
-Promotes a culture of outstanding sportsmanship. 
-Demonstrates through actions and communicates a respect for diversity and cross-cultural differences. 
-Attend and/or participate in all required conference association meetings, events and championships. 
-Active participation in your respective sport association.
