The counselor reports to the Counseling Services Manager and is responsible for providing academic, personal, transfer and career counseling to students on a one-to-one and group basis. The counselor also provides referrals to community and professional agencies as needed.
Provide students with academic, personal and career counseling as needed.
Assist students in completing educational and transfer planning.
Interpret assessment results and explain placement process to students.
Play a key role in new student advising at “New Student Orientation” sessions, including presentations and individual work with students and families.
Provide referrals to community and professional agencies.
Participate in planning and implementation of college events such as College Night, Counselor Breakfast, and college/university transfer events.
Assist with general student service at front reception areas as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Counseling Services Manager.
Ability to work at various campuses.

Position Qualifications: Masters degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field.
Experience with, and commitment to serving diverse populations.
Knowledge of career options and experience with the career exploration process.
Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.
Prior experience working in a higher education setting is a plus.
Spanish/English bilingual ability preferred.
