Department Overview
Primarily responsible for facilitating access to health information by developing programs and services to increase UNTHSC clinical health practitioner and researcher access to authoritative biomedical literature. Manages, coordinates and evaluates library research services programs.

The Records and Archives Manager facilitates ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance and adherence to UNTHSC policies and procedures in regards to records management. This position provides leadership for institution-wide records and information management initiatives; supports institutional Record and Information Management (RIM) business processes and protects institutional data and memory according to state and federal laws. Additionally, the position manages the institutional records retention schedule and other university and library archives.

Position Details
The Library Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Senior Librarian - Records & Archives Manager to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Oversee the management of electronic and paper-based records using Records Information Management (RIM) tools and technologies. * Administer the University's Records Management Policy, including developing record keeping processes and supporting the management of university records.
* Provides consultation to departments in regards to RIM activities.
* Prioritizes and manages the processing and description of University collections and resources in a wide variety of physical and digital formats.
* Familiarity with electronic records management issues, digital preservation tools, and web archiving practices.
* Supervises professional librarians and other staff.
* Participates in strategic planning for the library.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:


* Master's degree in library or information science and three (3) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited institution, equivalent, or an Archivist certification or have passed the Certified Records Manager (CRM) exam.
* Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
* 2 years of work experience in an archives or special collections environment or in records management.
* Demonstrated knowledge of current national archival and descriptive standards and best practices, such as EAD and DACS.
* Experience in digitization and metadata creation for archives and special collections.
* Demonstrated understanding of privacy and security in an electronic environment.
* Experience with grant writing and project management.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff members and the public and have a positive support/service attitude.
* Participates in strategic planning for the library.
