Part time ~ Call Center Outreach Assistant

Description/Job Summary
Overiew of Position:
This position serves as first point of contact for the college community. Responds to public inquires both in person and via telephone in a courteous and professional manner regarding admission, hours of operation, registration, orientation, advising and other BCCC policies and procedures.
Provides general information to callers and visitors about various departments, programs, and special events. Discusses and resolves student inquiries regarding their educational needs. Provides pre-admissions advising with prospective students. Conducts outbound telephone calls to increase enrollment. Records and data enters prospective student information on the College's student data system. Provides support to the Call Center Coordinator and Dean of Enrollment.

Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, and word processing to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports. Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance. Operates fax machine, copier and other office equipment.

As a requirement of this position, Baltimore City Community College will expect the incumbent to provide and be evaluated on the effective delivery of services through evening and weekend coverage, providing coverage at off-campus sites as deemed necessary, cross-training in related functions to support operational efficiency, provide as appropriate instruction and or instructional support in a manner that best enhances student learning and success.

Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working in the higher education industry or equivalent customer service experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of multi-line phone systems as well software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/ or word processing required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and the internet required.
