Job description

Duties: A vacancy for a small laboratory animal/Transgenic mouse Research Specialist is available. The individual will perform various research laboratory assignments, in accordance with standard practices and procedures. This position requires animal colony management and requires scheduling of breeding animals for sufficient numbers for experiments. The individual will help plan experiments and perform the experiments with exquisite documentation and maintenance of all necessary records for regulatory compliance and publication. As needed, the individual will also assist in data collection for grant applications.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology or related discipline and 0 to 1 year of experience or a combination of education and experience required. Experience in a laboratory setting preferred. Ability to perform molecular and histological techniques under supervision. Attention to detail from established protocols or lab manager's instructions.
Attention to all safety issues in the lab. Ability to handle small lab animals (mice).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with other laboratory personnel.
Ability to perform necropsies and imaging experiments initially with a supervisor's guidance and then independently.
