Challenger Learning Center
Responsible for educational programming of the Challenger Learning Center by running simulated space mission scenarios for students and teachers. Develops and presents dynamic demos, learning labs, Home School, Science Saturday programming,classroom curriculum and camp programming for K-12 students. Ensures all school group programs are age appropriate and aligned to state standards (Florida, Georgia and Alabama). Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of educational content in presentations.
Maintains and updates hardware, software and manuals in the space mission simulator as needed. Organizes, media updates, maintains inventories and keeps up-to-date records and instructions for all equipment belonging to the education department and materials in the teacher resource room.
Organizes and manages the Challenger Learning Center's camp (holiday, spring, summer, teacher professional development) programs.
Plan and conduct teacher professional development workshops; create pre and post CLC field trip activities for teachers and students; serve as a CLC liaison with educators, community organizations and the general public at special events; and conduct STEM based educational and entertaining programming.
Bachelor's degree in education or STEM related field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and 2 years of instruction experience.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must be experienced and comfortable working with K-12 students.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
