This position serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the College of Arts & Sciences. As brand manager for COAS, the incumbent is responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of comprehensive communication strategies for the College. This position will also advise individual units as appropriate.
Responsible for the operational management and administrative direction of writing, editing, and media design projects, in a range of media, which articulate the core intellectual values and educational mission of the College to internal and external audiences. Oversees the writing, designing, and editing of informational and promotional content about student, faculty, and departmental achievements and events across print and on-line platforms for internal and external audiences. This includes serving as liaison between the College and University Communications offices and the FSU Foundation to support College participation in fundraising campaigns and increased College media presence within and outside FSU.
Supervises media staff and interns for the College; edits and bears ultimate responsibility for their work; oversees College support of departments with their own communications efforts across platforms.
Develops a consistent message in all communications outreach, including brand management for the College; assists with Dean's outreach/communication to external and internal constituencies.
Creates online and print content in service of college's strategic initiatives; bears ultimate responsibility for content on College's website.
Masters' degree and six years' experience or Bachelors' degree and the equivalent of eight years' experience.
Knowledge of current media technology and trends.
Knowledge of journalism ethics, rules, and procedures.
Ability to write and/or proofread and edit written word and/or information in various formats.
Knowledge of marketing research techniques and tools.
Ability to develop and implement a successful marketing plan/strategy.
Ability to train and supervise employees.
Knowledge of and the ability to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 commensurate with education and experience.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
