Posting Summary:
The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow to work on neuron-immune interactions in the context of neurodevelopment and neurodevelopmental disorders. Research will focus on mechanisms of microglial function in development, microglial interactions with developing blood vessels and microglial contributions to disorders such as seizures during development. The position is in the laboratory of Dr. Ukpong Eyo, within the Center for Brain Immunology and Glia.

Candidates must have a PhD or MD degree before the start date, and have a background in Neuroscience and/or Immunology, as well as extensive experience in conducting independent research and supervising research trainees and/or technicians. In addition, the candidates must have first author publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and effective oral and written communication skills. Candidates with experience in small or large animal models of developmental disorders are preferred.

The Center for Brain Immunology and Glia is highly collaborative with state of the art shared equipment ( Research topics studied include brain infections and injury, multiple sclerosis, and autism. The University of Virginia is located in picturesque and historical Charlottesville, with outstanding schools, affordable housing, and is less than two hours from Washington, DC, and only an hour away from Richmond, VA.
