The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, is seeking applicants for a full-time professional research assistant (PRA) or senior professional research assistant (Sr. PRA) position in drug discovery and development for the laboratory of Dr. Daniel LaBarbera. The focus of this research will utilize animal models and tissue culture models to discover and develop small molecule therapeutics targeting cancer. Duties for this position will include, but are not limited to: (1) animal studies and techniques-Ordering animals, anesthesia administration and injections (IP, SC, IM, IC, and IV), survival surgery, gavage, in vivo imaging, experience with tumor xenograft and metastasis models, blood and organ collection, and tumor extraction. Experience in writing and amending IACUC animal protocols is highly desirable and preferred; (2) molecular/cancer biology techniques-2D and 3D cell culture, cloning, PCR, transfection and transduction, and Western blot analysis. In addition, this position will include ordering supplies, organizing inventory, and training students and postdoctoral fellows in animal model techniques.

Minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a closely related field. Candidates with a master's degree in the above named fields and research experience in most of the areas mentioned, are highly desirable.
