The College of Arts and Sciences at North Park University invites applications for a full-time, tenured-track position of open rank in the Youth Ministry Studies. The Biblical and Theological Studies and Youth Ministry Studies department (BTS/YMS) is seeking a Professor of Youth Ministry Studies who will build on the strong legacy of undergraduate Youth Ministry training at NPU. The department is entering an important transition point in its history as it discerns a new direction for its ministry studies. Therefore, in addition to a strategy for recruiting, equipping and placing students in Youth Ministry, the successful candidate will have a vision for building a broader Christian Ministry Studies program at the undergraduate level. The YMS professor will be a visionary leader/teacher; they will assist the department chair in creating, implementing and leading a new Christian Ministries major within which the Youth Ministry Studies will be eventually absorbed. Responsibilities within the BTS/YMS department will include teaching the departmental core course, Introduction to the Bible, courses in Youth Ministry and eventually Christian Ministry, advising and mentoring undergraduate students and will cooperate in leading the Center for Youth Ministry Studies the Director of Student Ministries of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). Further, the successful candidate will build and cultivate relationships with churches and Christian ministries for student practicums and internships both within the ECC and beyond in the city of Chicago and the wider Chicagoland area. The position will begin in August of 2018.

A successful candidate must demonstrate a strong Christian faith, a commitment to North Park University’s mission and vision. What is more, ideally, given the formal relationship of North Park University as a ministry of the ECC, the candidate will have a ministry credential in the denomination, although this is not required and should not limit potential candidates from applying.

Essential Qualifications:

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in any area of Biblical Studies, Christian Theology or Ministry. The doctorate must be in hand before taking up the position. Also, they must demonstrate longevity and an exceptional track record of leadership in local church ministry. Finally, the successful candidate will bring with them a thoughtfully biblical, theologically sophisticated and gospel-rich vision for ministry formation at the undergraduate level.

Application Instructions:

Interested applicants should submit a letter of intent, current vita, three references - one of which should be from a ministry supervisor or colleague, and official transcripts to:
