Job Description Summary:
I. JOB OVERVIEW
The Office of Enrollment Management and Retention includes the offices of undergraduate admission, graduate enrollment, graduate scholarships, student financial assistance, registrar functions, strategic enrollment initiatives including international enrollment, summer programs, and non-degree student support, student retention, and enrollment operations. The division works to elevate the university's enrollment planning to bring in an ever more passionate, academically talented and diverse student body.
The Office of the Registrar is dedicated to providing the best possible service to all members of the GW community. The office maintains academic records from enrollment through graduation and offers a wide range of services in the areas of classroom scheduling, enrollment verification, registration, requirements tracking, transcripts, and degree conferral. We support the university's mission to promote lifelong learning by administering the various academic policies of the university and providing support to students, faculty, administrators, and alumni.
The Office of the Registrar is searching for a full-time Associate Registrar for Student Support Services who will serve as a member of the senior management team of the Office of the Registrar at GW by participating with the Registrar in the strategic planning and on-going measurement of the achievement of the Office of the Registrar's goals and objectives. Maintains primary responsibility in the direction and support of the Student Information Services and Records & Registration units.
Provides departmental oversight of the release of any student-related information in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Collaborates with the University Registrar and other University administrators and staff in developing standards and procedures covering areas of mutual interest.
Supervises and coordinates the work of the Student Information Services and Records & Registration teams to include providing leadership, helping to determine work priorities and ensuring that quality standards are met.
Maintains a working knowledge of Banner so as to be able to assist units with trouble-shooting, upgrade testing and daily work during critical periods of high demand and to remain aware of possibilities for future enhancements to our systems.
Develops, recommends, and implements processes, procedures, and systems to maintain the registration and records-certification services.
Participates in the overall planning of activities within the Registrar's Office, developing, recommending and implementing major policy and procedural changes.
Serves as the university's Consortium Coordinator, manages the Consortium budget and acts as the university representative at the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area meetings.
Works with associate deans, advisors and program directors to troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to registration and student academic records.
Processes manual student registrations into classes as approved by faculty, academic advisors & deans, course drops & withdrawals, leave of absences, continuous enrollments, and study abroad registrations.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
