I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

Purpose: This position is the primary secretarial and administrative support position for the Office of Admissions and Student Services (Student Affairs) and assists with all of the functions and activities flowing through Office. As such, this position: 1. Is responsible for the efficient operation of the office and performs secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties. 2. Enables the office to increase it's efficiency and effectiveness. 3. Ensures that special project activities are efficiently and professionally carried out for a variety of special projects and events. 4. Provides clerical and secretarial support to the Assistant Dean and Directors. 5. Acts as back up to Admissions Coordinators during peak periods.

Scope: This position is the front line employee in the Student Affairs unit in the School of Nursing. Employee must be able to work in a high stress environment during different times of the year such as peak periods and must handle multiple priorities. Position is part of the Student Affairs unit and must be able to work together with other employees to help the office and department fulfill its mission.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Serve as front line employee in the School of Nursing Student Affairs Unit. Responsible for the efficient operation of the Office and preforms secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties. Answers office phone, office email, maintains office calendars, timekeeper for unit, receives visitors/students, makes travel arrangements for staff and completes expense reports.

Assists with event logistics and coordination, to include, but not limited to: orientation, graduation, open houses, admitted student days, and prospective and admitted student tours.

Acts as back up for the Admissions Coordinators during peak admissions periods, helping with application processing, and scanning.

Assists with special projects, and records maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree or higher.

Two (2) years experience in student/customer service and two (2) years clerical experience in an office setting, which may be concurrent.

Experience and demonstrated proficiency at the basic level with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to deal with faculty, staff, students, and the public with tact and courtesy.

Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with peers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must possess the ability to work successfully in a high stress environment, handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Ability to work with accuracy.

Must be dependable and reliable.

Ability to maintain confidentiality on all information regarding student records, faculty and student communications and personnel matters.

Experience with Banner or other similar student record system.
