Senior Research Scholar
The James Madison Program seeks candidates for a position as Senior Research Scholar, to begin February 1, 2019, or later. Reporting to the Director of the James Madison Program, the successful candidate will: *conduct research and publish in his or her field(s) of expertise *be available to provide guidance on research and teaching to more junior scholars affiliated with the Madison Program, and to advise junior papers and senior theses with the approval of the Dean of the Faculty *participate in the scholarly activities of the Madison Program *offer Freshman Seminars when approved by the Dean of the College and Dean of the Faculty *with approval of the Dean of the Faculty, and at the invitation of the Department of Politics, teach courses in Politics, including POL 332: Topics in American Statesmanship QUALIFICATIONS *A distinguished record of scholarly accomplishment and intellectual leadership, with a commitment to the highest standards of excellence in research, in American statesmanship, the history of American politics, and American constitutional and political thought *Extensive teaching experience *PhD in a relevant field This position is subject to the University's background check policy and review and approval by the Committee on Appointments and Advancements for the Professional Researchers and Professional Specialists.
