The Music Program at the George Washington University's Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is seeking candidates for a full-time Wind Ensemble Conductor/Coordinator of Large Ensembles position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2018.
The Music Program is a core player in the Corcoran's commitment to exploring new educational models within the liberal arts environment. The Program welcomes candidates committed to collaborative teaching, innovative approaches to performance, robust scholarship, and cross-disciplinary partnerships.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The holder of the position will be expected to establish a record of strong performances both within and beyond the university.
The successful candidate's primary duties will include conducting the wind ensemble/symphonic band and providing oversight and direction for the large ensemble curriculum of the Music Program. The position will involve performance at university, departmental and community events, as well as the recruitment of undergraduates. Additional teaching duties may be assigned according to the expertise and interests of the candidate and the needs of the music program.
Applicant must have experience in one or more of the following: Orchestral, Choral, and/or Jazz conducting/ performance.
Applicant must be committed to the performance of contemporary music, diverse repertoires, and music of cross-disciplinary, electronic, and/or multimedia elements.
A doctorate is required (Ph.D. or DMA) by the date of appointment. University level teaching experience and/or professional-level conducting experience are required.Advertised Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience. Other Benefits: Other Information: Special Instructions to Applicants:

Finalists will be invited to make an on-campus presentation to the full faculty of the Corcoran, after which point a committee recommendation will be shared and a vote taken.
