Position Information
The Mental Health Educator will serve as the coordinator for the Let's Talk project, a suicide-prevention program that is grant funded through September 29, 2018, and may continue beyond that date pending funding. Let's Talk addresses the needs of all UCR students, with a focus on identified high risk student populations. Programmatic elements include trainings and educational workshops aimed at decreasing the stigma associated with seeking mental health services, and increasing awareness, intervention, referral, and help seeking behaviors. The Mental Health Educator will also play a leadership role in planning, developing, implementing,evaluating, and reporting on multifaceted, campus-wide mental health education and promotion efforts as part of the WELL and the UCR's Student Health and Wellness Services. This includes, but is not limited to, presentations, lectures, campaigns, awareness week events, workshops, training programs, and special events to the University community, based on identified needs. The Mental Health Educator will also be responsible for overseeing a peer group, including student staff supervision and training, managing a program budget, staying current on mental health trends and needs of college students, and researching evidence-based mental health promotion programs and best practices.

Minimum Requirements
Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs.
Thorough knowledge of the design and delivery of related programs.
Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services.
Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups.
Effective organizational skills.
Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Expertise in at least two of the following priority mental health education topics: stress management, suicide-prevention, mindfulness, mental health promotion/ de-stigmatization, mental illness, and substance misuse.
