Primary Function of Organization Unit: The University Cashier's Office is a large and complex department responsible for institution wide activity. The department has frequent contact with students, parents and academic and administrative departments across campus, as well as non-university companies and state agencies. Annually, the department processes in excess of $100 million in deposits for campus departments, and is responsible for the billing and collection of more than $200 million for student tuition, fees and other charges. Maintenance of an effective system to process departmental deposits and a highly accurate, transparent system of student financial records is critical to the cash flow of the University.

Essential Job Duties: To provide cashiering support for all student account payments and deposits from on-campus departments. Process student payments, departmental deposits and corporate payments and release holds. Scan all checks and keep daily log. Process all monies received from armored car vendor and prepare bank deposits. Provide back up support for armored car process. Balance all work via daily balance and master balance sheets. Respond to walk-in customers, telephone inquiries, and return calls when necessary. Handle research on student accounts, departmental depositors, and external banking agencies to resolve issues.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a professional, cordial, and professional customer service attitude; a willingness to learn, the ability to follow policy and procedure, to think critically, and work well in a team environment; experience handling cash transactions; and the ability and flexibility to work in a fast paced environment.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Prefer experience working in a university cashier office setting.
