Position Summary: This Assistant Professor, nontenure earning, position will have teaching responsibilities in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations including coursework covering advertising art direction and portfolio development, and advertising campaigns. (Opportunities for additional summer teaching are available.)

Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The Department of Advertising and Public Relations and College of Communication and Information Sciences at The University of Alabama seeks an outstanding colleague to join our nationally recognized program. This Assistant Professor, nontenure earning, position will have teaching responsibilities in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations including coursework covering advertising art direction and portfolio development, and advertising campaigns. (Opportunities for additional summer teaching are available.) As we seek an individual with expertise in advertising art direction, the successful candidate will bring the proper academic certification, teaching and academic administrative expertise and professional experience. The academic certification required for this advertising art direction position is an MFA. The ideal candidate must also have at least ten years of professional experience in advertising art direction. The successful candidate must also have at least three years of university-level teaching experience with a record of effectively engaging students in the classroom. Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to be an active and involved member of a highly collaborative team at both the departmental and college levels. Finally, as the person in this position will also serve as the faculty director of our award winning Advertising Creative Specialization, the successful candidate must have documented experience in leading such an academic specialization. The Department of Advertising and Public Relations has over 1400 student majors. Student work is exhibited annually during The One Club for Art & Copy's Creative Week in New York, and the program has been a finalist in PRWeek's Education Program of the Year in nine of the last eleven years.
