To provide undergraduate learning support services to new and continuing students in the Center for Student Success. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to provide tutoring support to academic programs, undergraduate learning strategies, and student support services. This position is funded through a grant. Continuation of this position is dependent upon extension of grant funding.

Tutoring Services: Coordinate and manage the tutoring staff and provide appropriate tutoring and supplemental instruction services to the campus. Identify and recruit new tutors from all academic disciplines to fulfill tutor requests, and manage onboarding process for new staff members. Develop presentations, workshops, and online supplemental resources related to academic success (e.g., Study Strategy, Time Management, Learning Strategy, Academic Resources). Become an expert in the Student Success Collaborative tutoring product, CAMPUS, including but not limited to tutor staffing, uploads, reporting, and campaigns. Develop and administer ongoing training to tutoring staff to maintain Peer Tutoring and Mentor International Certifications (College Reading & Learning Association [CRLA]). Maintain up-to-date training manuals for tutoring staff and adjust policies and procedures as needed. Responsible for coaching and developing the tutoring staff.

  • Student Support Services: Provide academic program advising, course registration, and serve as liaison with academic departments and academic services. Participate in the Freshmen Orientation and teach the First-Year Experience and Study Skills Course each semester. Consult and partner with academic departments, enrollment management, and the Student Life organization. Serve as advisor to one or more student organizations. On occasion may need to drive on behalf of the University. Weekend and evening hours may be required.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Master's Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Education, Human Resources, Student Personnel or a related field is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in an educational setting required; preferably in a secondary or higher education environment.
  • Sensitivity to working in a multicultural setting.
  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience working with underrepresented college students, first-generation students, and high-risk students.
  • Thorough knowledge of university student development theory, academic advising, retention and persistence programs and services.
  • Familiarity with current trends in higher education and technology, and the ability to enhance the use of technology and other resources to meet student needs.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with a high energy level is required.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective personal, social, career, and student development programs to individuals and groups.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and public speaking skills.
  • Must be customer-service oriented.
  • Comfortable with social media (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn).
  • Valid driver's license is required.
