Overview
To conduct and collect complex market research, identify potential programs where the University could fill a niche, and stay abreast of market conditions and changes. Provide thorough and in-depth analysis of business intelligence to assist in building brand awareness, new product launch, and advertising testing. This position is funded through a grant. Continuation of this position is dependent upon extension of grant funding.

Responsibilities
Research and Assessment: Define and refine research study objectives and design appropriate questionnaires. Apply a variety of research techniques to gather relevant information, including document analysis, surveys, case studies and interviews (face-to-face, telephone and online). Conduct information and data retrieval searches using electronic databases. Analyze and evaluate research and interpret data, making sure that key issues are identified. Develop expertise in the Student Success Collaborative CRM tool, CAMPUS, including but not limited to data analytics, reporting, and campaigns. Conduct regular analysis and provide recommendations on program performance in the areas of persistence, graduation, workflow efficacy, customer satisfaction, demographics, and other key retention drivers.

  • Student Support Services: Provide traditional support services on academic, personal, financial, and career issues for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, with special emphasis on Pittsburgh Promise recipients. Provide recommendations to improve support services for students identified in academic jeopardy along with addressing persistence, retention, and graduation rates. Perform administrative duties to gather, manage, and evaluate data to make informed decisions pertaining to student success. Provide academic program advising and course registration, and serve as liaison with academic departments and academic services. Participate in the Freshmen Orientation and teach the First-Year Experience and Study Skills Course each semester. Consult and partner with academic departments, enrollment management, online student services, financial aid, student accounts, and the Student Life organization.
  • On occasion may need to drive on behalf of the University. All other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Research and Assessment is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant research or analyst experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills is required.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods is preferred.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in higher education also preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office with special emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong relationship building skills, ability to develop strong cross-functional working relationships with multiple departments, and commitment to diversity.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills required.
  • Ability to drive consensus among divergent groups.
  • Ability to provide business and competitive analysis, as well as market intelligence.
  • Ability to work well within a team, as well as independently.
  • Strong oral, written, communication, presentation and customer skills required.
  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
