The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Temp Part-Time Research Associate 1. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the daily operation of the laboratory, which includes the following : Developing proficiency with the lab techniques routinely employed in the OCF such as RNA and DNA extraction, NGS library prep and sequencing, gene expression assays, qPCR and ddPCR. Perform complex and routine molecular biology and other laboratory procedures as instructed. Develop, adapt and implement new lab procedures with supervision. Design and implement SOPs and protocols for the OCF. Record and report data accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate clearly and professionally with OCF customers and other University of Miami staff. Manage the organization of instruments, supplies, service contracts , requisition forms, financial documents and service schedules. Assist with billing and collecting for services, constructing and maintaining facility budgets and ordering supplies. Keep abreast of latest developments in the field and be able to search literature databases and technical resources for solutions to problems. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or related field with at least one (1) year's professional experience working in a biomedical wet-lab environment. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency with computers and the ability to record work in a service laboratory environment in an organized manner. Ability to work well in a team and understand performance goals. Relevant experience in molecular biology laboratory techniques andlor working in a core facility environment is advantageous but not essential.

Patient safety is a top priority.
