Position Information

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Special Working Conditions:
This position involves travel, evening and weekend hours and is in a exempt classification.  

Salary Range and Max Salary

The salary range for this classification is: $4,057 - $5,769 monthly.  

Conditions of Employment   The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.  CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Possession of a valid Driver's License is required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.

The Outreach and School Relations Department is responsible for the recruitment of
prospective students to CSU Dominguez Hills. The Department partners with high schools,
community colleges, community based organizations and other K-14 entities to ensure that
prospective students understand how CSUDH can assist them in meeting their educational
goals. The department works collaboratively with other Divisions, Colleges and other Student
Affairs departments to plan programs and keep abreast of updates in programs and majors that
are of interest to prospective students.  

Major Duties  

Under general supervision of the Associate Director, Outreach and School Relations, the incumbent  performs duties related to the recruitment and enrollment of K-16 students to CSUDH. Responsibilities include meeting prospective students and their families/support systems to provide information about enrollment and admission; these interactions will occur in individual and group settings. Predominantly works within the Community College student services offices serviced by CSUDH.

The incumbent plans, develops and conducts transcript evaluations, individual admission advisement,
group admission advisement, application seminars and Associate of Arts, Transfer (AAT)/Associate of Science, Transfer (AST) seminars. Also coordinates and recommends programs designed to assess and prepare incoming/prospective students for post-secondary education, including New Student Orientation (NSO), Campus Tours, Early Assessment Program (EAP) and the Visitor's Information Center.  


Required Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job related field.  Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year or year basis.

Required Experience:
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A masters degree in a job related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

Preferred Experience: Three-five years working in outreach/recruitment with Community College
students; working with Enrollment Management Platform (EMP), PeopleSoft, Onbase and Microsoft programs.

- To advise students individually and in groups on moderately complex student-related matters
- To carry out a variety of professionally assignments without detailed instructions
- To carry out multiple priorities and deadlines
- To establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all CSUDH constituents

Specialized Materials:
General office equipment, personal computer, Micro Soft Office suite, PeopleSoft, audio/visual equipment, electric cart, Enrollment Management Platform (EMP), Onbase.

Certification: Valid Drivers License


70% - Advising and Counseling - Advises students from the prospective stage to enrollment ensuring
students adhere to admission policy and requirements, financial aid policies and procedures, including
students eligible for special programs and services such as Early Start, Student Support Services, and
others. Conducts and plans recruitment visits to schools/colleges. Designs and conducts oral
presentations at schools/colleges. Represents CSU Dominguez Hills at college nights/fairs, transfer days and other recruitment related events. Provides on-site advising to prospective students which includes transcript assessment, subject requirements, test results, CSU eligibility index and transfer requirements.

20% - Coordinates recruitment and yield events; recommends programmatic changes to improve
recruitment and yield events. Assists the Visitor's Information Center, New Student Orientation and EAP
with programmatic goals and objectives. Works directly with Transfer Lead Coordinator and Associate
Director in designing and implementing targeted recruitment efforts aligned with Academic Colleges and
the campus strategic plan.

10% - Other duties as assigned.
