Visiting Assistant Professor in Studio Art, Painting: One–Year Appointment

Position Summary: Gettysburg College invites applications for a one-year visiting faculty position in Art & Art History at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor ( ) to begin August 2018.  The successful candidate would be able to teach all levels of painting and drawing. We encourage applications from candidates whose teaching or creative activity would contribute to the diversity of the campus community. 

Qualifications: The successful candidate will join a dynamic department with majors and minors in Studio Art and Art History and a dedication to promoting undergraduate research and creative activity.  The candidate should have a commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting and show clear potential for professional creative activity. We seek a studio artist with experience in painting as well as broad interdisciplinary interests capable of teaching all levels of undergraduate students. We are especially interested in applicants who can bring a diverse or underrepresented contribution to the department and can demonstrate the ability to effectively teach and mentor students of all backgrounds.  The teaching load is 3/3 and includes Introduction to Painting, Intermediate Painting and sections of Introduction to Drawing.  An MFA in Studio Art is preferred and teaching experience is a must.
