Posting Summary:
The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Manoj Patel. The incumbent joins an interactive group of motivated scientists studying the development of epileptic seizures in a human SCN8A knock-in mutation mouse model of epileptic encephalopathy.

Candidates must have a PhD or MD degree in hand by start date and demonstrate expertise in ion channel electrophysiology, particularly from brain slice preparations. The individual should be willing to perform in vivo surgeries that would involve headset implantation and viral injections. Experience with EEG recordings/analysis is desirable, but not essential. Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills.
