Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Professional Research Assistant. This full-time position is responsible for: working as a research assistant and coordinator for clinical research studies dealing with surgical and medical approaches to reduce metabolic, cardiovascular, and renal outcomes in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The Professional Research Assistant will work with study physicians and staff and will be responsible for study approval and ongoing regulatory compliance, study coordination, participant recruiting, retention, patient interactions, study data collection and testing, and specimen processing.

Examples of Work Performed:

§ Develop and maintain familiarity with study protocols and documents of assigned research study

§ Manage inventory and maintain accountability for study supplies and investigational products in collaboration with research pharmacy

§ Perform data and sample collection at in person and telephone research visits including cardiovascular and exercise testing

§ Blood and biological sample handling and processing

§ Assist with biorepository sample storage

§ Data entry and database maintenance

§ Collaborate as a team member in coordination of assigned primary studies and support of other staff members on research group studies

§ Subject recruitment and retention for research studies

§ Prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and maintain study approval and certifications

§ Assist with grant preparation

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits

The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications

§ Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in science or health-related field

§ Prior experience working with youth/adolescents and/or patients with diabetes

§ Minimum of 2 years' prior research experience

Condition of Employment

• Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

• Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex offender background check

§ Ability to work both independently and part of a collaborative team

Preferred Qualifications

§ Previous clinical research experience

§ Experience with cardiovascular or renal testing

§ Master's Degree in health-related field

§ Spanish speaking
