Advertised Job Summary: This position provides professional services for the Academic Advising Program in the College of Engineering and Computing. This front-line position provides general information to students regarding admissions, advisement, and registration. The position assists students with academic forms and student record transactions. The position assists academic advisors and other advising staff with caseload management and special projects. The position also plans, coordinates, and assists with student engagement programs for undergraduate engineering and computing students. Duties include: Reception: Serve as director of first impressions for the Student Services Office. Greet and assist students, family members, faculty, staff and other walk-in visitors. Answering the main phone line and manage the Student Services email account. Receive and respond to or redirect inquiries from college webpage contact forms such as Formstack. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the status of academic programs and support services in the college. Provide general information to current and prospective students. Explain policies and procedures related to admission, progression, course selection, registration, and graduation. Refer students to other individuals and offices, as appropriate. Records Processing. Assist students with academic forms and student record transactions. Receive student forms requiring college approval, including Transient Enrollment, Study Abroad, Senior Checks, Petitions, and other student record transactions. Review forms for completeness and compliance with university policies and procedures, route forms for college approval, notify appropriate university offices, and notify students of status and next steps. As needed, update student records. Advising Services: Assist with coordinating college-wide advising services. Manage advising kiosk and bulletin boards. Update advisor-advisee database. Assist with enforcing college progression and graduation policies including repetition of coursework, minimum course grades, and Program GPA. Participate in training and professional development related to advising. Perform other duties as assigned. First Year Advisor Support: Assist First Year advisors with caseload management and reporting functions. Maintain knowledge of First Year Advisor schedules. Buffer student traffic for First Year Advisors. As needed, assist students with making advisor appointments. Assist First Year Advisors with student correspondence, such as sending appointment follow-up emails on behalf of advisors. As directed, lift advisement and registration holds, and execute other student advising transactions. Student Engagement Initiatives: Coordinate student engagement programs for undergraduates, with emphasis first- and second-year students. Provide college-level support for ECC living and learning community. Assist with CEC new student welcome events. Assist with the implementation of New Student Orientation and Major Change Workshop sessions. Develop and coordinate events and services for students during academic terms.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Bachelor's degree.
