The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Calder Library has an exciting career opportunity for a Manager, Library Services. This position provides and promotes quality patron service while ensuring that all department functions are executed in an efficient manner. Specifically, the duties and responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, supervising Library Assistants; preparing schedules; verifying, entering, updating, and deleting expired patron records and employee clearances; collecting payments and waiving fines when required; serving as a back-up at the Single Service Desk; preparing weekly catalog search statistics; compiling and checking weekly Library Services statistical reports; preparing monthly transactions and Library Services statistics; managing the purchasing function; resolving employee and patron conflicts; surveying patrons; assisting in preparing employee performance appraisals; verifying all Library Services financial transactions prior to the end of the workday for Library passes, Biomed credit card payments, and fax services; and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Library Services Department. Other duties and responsibilities may consist of checking stacks and all Library floors for neatness and shelving arrangements; programming copy cards; sending overdue notices; preparing monthly meter reading reports of all Library copy machines; logging all copy machines' maintenance issues; and maintaining classroom reservation book. Please note that this position is scheduled to work the evening shift.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study as well as at least one year of work experience in a library. Prefer experience working in an academic library. Demonstrated excellence in exhibiting and promoting customer service skills. Ability to use professional management skills to supervise staff, resolve or refer customer complaints, and react to emergency situations while maintaining a professional composure. Experience and proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as using scheduling software. Ability and willingness to adapt to changing environments and tasks to provide support services for the Library's other departments. Ability to pay close attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and integrity in statistical collection and reporting of data. Ability and willingness to work evenings. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
