Vice Provost | Chief Knowledge Officer, Academic Affairs
Rush University invites applications for the position of Vice Provost for Academic Affairs/Chief Knowledge Officer. Under the direction of the Provost, the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs/Chief Knowledge Officer is Rush University’s senior academic leader responsible for creating an environment to transfer knowledge in the context of academic excellence through a collaborative process with various University and community constituencies. The individual serves as the Provost's chief advisor and representative in academic matters related to curriculum and the general health and welfare of the academic programs. The Vice Provost will serve as the instructional change leader for transforming educational activities through innovation, collaboration and technologies. The incumbent will further provide strategic direction and operational oversight of the Library, The McCormick Educational Technology Center (METC), and Office of Interprofessional Continuing Education, Rush Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation, Library /Archives and Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation. The position will also oversee the Office of Institutional Research, Accreditation, and Assessment.
The qualified individual will provide leadership, in collaboration with college partners, to develop and implement a successful health sciences institution-wide educational portfolio which addresses both present and future needs of health care delivery. The position will require the utilization of active learning, simulations, team-based and experiential learning in addition to traditional learning models; will serve as the University’s curriculum and pedagogical specialist and will collaborate with the colleges to leverage innovative technologies and teaching methods.
Other duties include ensuring teaching evaluative measures, student learning outcomes and assessment techniques are well developed and will partner with Information Systems to secure and deploy state-of-the-art technologies for the teaching and learning experiences in academic programs, as well as continuing education initiatives. The qualified individual will lead efforts to develop new, non-degreed programs for continuing education that emphasize life-long health science learning and leadership and will serve in a leadership capacity for meeting the goals and objectives of the University’s strategic plan in regard to education. The role will serve as the key academic leader for University and College Leadership while developing an extremely high collaborative relationship with academic departments while representing the University’s progressive academic vision on University Council.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include:
An Earned doctorate with seven or more years managing curriculum development within higher education and experience as Dean of Academic Affairs or as Associate/Vice Provost preferred; demonstrated success at developing innovative educational programming; 5 + years as a faculty member or leader in academic or instructional affairs | evidence of successful leadership across organizational departments & academic units | experience with managing institutional accreditation and assessment | and demonstrated commitment to academic quality and standards; behaviors and attitudes that model engagement and advance Rush towards achievement of our mission and goals and support for faculty and staff development | strong accreditation experience is highly desirable as well as talent assessment, management and leadership development | highly knowledgeable about current trends and applications for educational technologies; high level organization acumen and ability to manage vertically and to build strong, collaborative relationships with key constituents.
