Responsibilities

The FSUCML seeks a full-time Custodian with strong customer service skills to provide custodial services for all FSUCML facilities, including offices, housing, laboratories, classrooms, and restrooms. The successful candidate is expected to be a good team player with the ability to work effectively with FSU employees, vendors, and the public. This person is also expected to use good judgment when fulfilling custodial duties and making decisions, and adhere to all FSUCML safety procedures and policies.
Responsible for cleaning of laboratory, classrooms, auditorium, and office building. This cleaning includes carpet cleaning, window washing, furniture polishing, cleaning of all restrooms, and emptying all trash receptacles including glass, aluminum, paper, and can recycling. Responsible for for ordering inventory and disbursement of all supplies appropriate to above listed job duties.
Responsible for cleaning all housing units, including four dormitory units, each fully equipped to sleep and accommodate 6 people, and a four bedroom/ two bath house. This cleaning includes all kitchen appliances, complete linen service, bathrooms, floors, and all kitchen/eating utensils (pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses etc.).
Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork and support of the FSUCML mission to conduct scientific research. Provides assistance to other facilities staff members as needed. Provides cleaning assistance and linen service on the research vessel as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Completion of 9th grade education.
Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent.
Knowledge of the practice and procedures of custodial work.
Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively to meet deadlines in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position to include bending, squatting, lifting, moving objects up to 40 pounds, going up and down stairs, using ladders, and standing and walking for extended periods.
Valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain upon hire.

Anticipated Salary Range

The minimum base salary for this position is $20,880 - negotiable commensurate with education and experience.

Pay Plan

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

Soft Money Funded Position

This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
