Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Foundations Program serves as the gateway and first year experience to all incoming students and is the core of all undergraduate degree programs in the College of Visual Art and Design at The University of North Texas (UNT). The coursework in Drawing and Design introduces visual problem solving and critical thinking strategies incorporating/studying culture, history, and practice of various art/design forms across disciplines to prepare students for rigorous college courses in visual art, design, art education, and art history.
The Foundations Program in the College of Visual Arts and Design seeks a dynamic faculty colleague to teach in a one-year lecturer position for the academic year 2018/2019. The Foundations Program has a lecture/lab format (i.e. classroom learning in a once week lecture as one cohort and with hands-on work in separate studios) and a diverse student body; the primary responsibility in this position include teaching Design I (2D Design: introducing the elements and principles of art and design in diverse media), mentoring Graduate Teaching Assistants, and assessment of student outcomes by working alongside the Foundations Director.

MFA or its equivalent in Visual Art or Design discipline or closely related field with at least one year of college level teaching experience as the instructor of record
Two or more years of College-level teaching as the instructor of record and/or working with graduate teaching assistants, industry/teaching experience in 2D Design discipline in diverse media is desirable.
