Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Division of Student Affairs encompasses the administrative Office of the Vice Chancellor and the following units. Career Services, Center for Personal Development, Intramural & Campus Recreation Services, Office of Residence Life, Office of Student Engagement, Rudolph Jones Student Center, and Student Health Services. The Division's primary role is to provide an exceptional co-curricular experience, supportive of the academic program at Fayetteville State University from orientation through graduation. The Division prepares students for a productive, ethical and meaningful life after college while fostering an inclusive campus community in support of the educational mission of the university. The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is a direct report to the Chancellor and is a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet and a wide range of administrative committees. The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs plays an active role in university planning and policy-making activities.

Primary Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop and implement Student Affairs facilities operations. In addition to the typical administrative, budgetary and supervisory duties, this position is responsible for supervising the Residence Life maintenance staff, other physical edifies, grounds and landscaping, central air conditioning and/heating operations, and other facilities operations. Serves as the divisions' primary alternate Emergency Manager.
Employee would directly supervise a professional staff of approximately five personal and seasonal and temporary employees as needed. In additional, the employee would be the Residence Life Janitorial Housekeeping Service contract administrator (with an estimated payout value of $330,000 in 2017 and employees approximately 15 contractors hired employees).
Current inventory of Student Affairs facilities included Bryant, Harris, Smith, Joyner, Hood, Williams, Hackley Honors, New Resident, Renaissance, McLeod and Vance Halls; University Place Apartments; Rudolph Jones Student Center; Spalding Building; Lilly Gymnasium (gym only) and; Collins Building (Student Affairs assigned areas only).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in trade(s) areas assigned; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Professional planning and organizing work, Program Management, Safety and Health Management, Strategic Planning, Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Career and/or Talent Development, Technical skills in facilities maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, grounds, general services, and housekeeping. Project management. Ability to supervise routine maintenance and technical trades employees and supervisors, manage repair and renovation projects, construction and contract administration, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ten years of progressive Building Trades experience at the journeyman level,
Licensed General Contractor.
Licensed as a NC Professional Engineer desirable but not required.
