Primary Function of Organization Unit: As part of the Land Grant University, the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology is composed of over 40 faculty that direct a diverse portfolio of programs in teaching, research and extension components. Essential Job Duties: This position is to support research of the Precision Pest Ecology program at NC State University. The program focuses on applied research and management of field crop and sweet potato insect pests. The Research Technician will assist in laboratory, greenhouse, and field research projects. *This is a time limited position for up to 3 years. May require working on the weekends and this role will require some travel to and from the research site in a program vehicle.*
Department Required Skills: * Previous training and experience with field and greenhouse research. * Demonstrated proficiency in SAS or R. * Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Background in agricultural research. * Field work may be required in the position, some assistance with pesticide application and mixing may be necessary.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: A valid drivers license is required for travel. NC drivers license required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
