Job Summary and Requirements: The Department of Health, Exercise and Sports Studies at Denison University invites applications for a one-year full-time visiting faculty position beginning August 2018, with the possibility of up to two additional years of hire depending upon performance. We seek applicants with an earned doctorate in Sport Management, Sport Studies, Sport Humanities or similar discipline. Applicants that have an earned juris doctor will also receive consideration provided they can demonstrate prior teaching excellence. All applicants should have experience using technology as well as a variety of instructional strategies to deliver instruction, evidence of outstanding teaching ability is required. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Denison's institutional mission of educating in the Liberal Arts tradition. The successful candidate would potentially teach courses in the history, philosophy, ethics and sociology of sport. We have interest in having the selected individual teach a Special Topics course in their area of expertise. We are currently in the process of expanding curriculum and there is potential for the new faculty member to teach a new class in Youth Sport and/or Global Sport. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a 3/3 course load per academic year, participating in departmental and college-wide activities, and if possible engaging in an active scholarly agenda/student research supervision.
